How to make iced coffee with a drip bag

The trick is to brew concentrated so the melting ice dilutes it back to normal strength. Instead of the usual 1:15, brew a drip bag at roughly 1:11 — about 110 ml of hot water over a 10 g bag — straight into a glass filled with ice. The ice chills and dilutes the concentrate into a clean, full-flavored iced coffee.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make iced coffee with a drip bag?

Yes. Brew the bag concentrated (about 110 ml of hot water for a 10 g bag) directly over a glass full of ice so the melt dilutes it to normal strength.

Why is my iced drip bag coffee watery?

You likely brewed at normal strength, then added ice. Brew concentrated at ~1:11 first so the melting ice brings it back to balance instead of thinning it out.
